Next SWAT ‘Workday’ in October 2021

The next official workday in October will be on Sunday, 24 October from 9.30 a.m. to midday. (Workdays normally fall on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.) New volunteers please get in contact with one of the SWAT trustees using the details on the Contact page.

SWAT 2022 Calendar – Now Available

Control of Japanese Knotweed

Trained SWAT volunteers will be spot-treating Japanese Knotweed in and around Lainshaw Woods during the second half of September. Storytelling chair and ‘toadstools’ installed

On 11th April 2021, a ‘storytelling’ chair and associated ‘toadstool’ seating were installed in Lainshaw Woods. The associated funds were raised by two local mums (pictured) who did a sponsored run last year.

Local Photographer’s SWAT Project

Over several months, Cara Smillie, a Stewarton-based photographer and videographer, has observed the activities of SWAT volunteers in and around the Lainshaw Woods. Cara’s images of the group and local woodland landscapes have been compiled into a book. You can see some of Cara’s work on Facebook and on Instagram.

Giant Hogweed Control
